Fegens Alexis
Fegens Alexis will intern at ITS through December 2008. He is a student at Wentworth Institute of Technology, due to graduate this coming spring.
Keri Beckwith
Previously, Keri Beckwith worked as an office manager at Demiurge Studios in Cambridge. She holds a BA in French literature and studio art from Hunter College, CUNY, and a professional photography certification from the New England School of Photography.
Amy Brand
Amy Brand will manage HUL’s new Office for Scholarly Communication (OSC). She is a scholarly communications professional with wide-ranging experience in publishing, academics, and information management, and in the strategic management of new initiatives, such as Harvard’s open-access initiatives. Since 2001, she served CrossRef, a nonprofit membership association for academic publishers, located in nearby Lynnfield and in Oxford, England, as director of business and product development. Prior associations include Ingenta, Inc., a leading e-journal hosting platform; the MIT Press, where she served as executive editor of Cognitive Science and Linguistics; and Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, where she served as an acquisitions editor. She earned her BA in linguistics from Barnard and a PhD in cognitive science from MIT, and has taken MBA courses at Rutgers and Harvard.
Emilyn Brown
Emilyn Brown has just finished her year as a Harvard Administrative Fellow, sponsored by the Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library, Harvard College Library (where she processed archival music scores and manuscripts, including the Nadia Boulanger Collection, and coordinated the selection of items for digitization from the African American Historic Sound Recordings Collection), and the University Archives, Harvard University Library (where her work centered on collection development in Latin American Studies). Previously, she was the archivist/acting librarian for the Library of Caribbean Research, Research Institute for the Study of Man in New York City (2003–2007), and historical researcher for the Office of Public Education Interpretation of the New York African Burial Ground Project (1992–1999). She continues to serve as the archival consultant to the Abyssinian Baptist Church in NYC. She has her BA from CUNY (dual major in anthropology and African American studies), MA in history from Columbia, advanced certificate in archival management and historical editing from New York University, and MLIS with distinctionfrom the Pratt Institute.
Ann-Marie Costa
Ann-Marie Costa previously worked in Access Services as a billing and privileges assistant from 1993 to 1997 before relocating to Maine. She attended the University of Southern Maine, where she studied art history.
Christina Davis
Christina Davis previously worked as the publicity and marketing coordinator for Poets House in New York, where she was responsible for publicity materials and public relations for Poets House programs. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MSt in Victorian literature and MPhil in modern literature from Oxford University.
Jill Ehrenzweig
Jill Ehrenzweig comes to the College Library from the Huntington Theatre Company, where she served as webmaster. A member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, she received her BA in philosophy from the University of Massachusetts—Amherst, and her graphic and web design certificate from Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts.
Richard Fay
Richard Fay has recently been working as a field research director for the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He has a 20-year history with Harvard, which began in 1986 as a library assistant in the University Archives as well as at the Kummel Library, and he has also worked in the UHS and OHR. Since 1998, he has helped out, as needed, in HCL Human Resource Services. He holds a BS in business management from Lesley University, and an MEd in counseling psychology from Springfield College.
Heidi Hendricks
Most recently, Heidi Hendricks worked in Harvard’s Department of Psychology as a faculty assistant. Prior to that, she worked for six years as manager of concert and recording services for the Longy School of Music. She received a BM in music production and engineering from Berklee College of Music.
Micah Hoggatt
Since 2007, Micah Hoggatt has worke as an information services assistant in the Office of the Registrar for Harvard’s Division of Continuing Education. He holds a BA in creative writing, philosophy, and religious studies from Purdue University and an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School. He is currently enrolled in the MSLIS program at Simmons.
Lunis Kendi
Previously, Lunis Kendi worked as an executive assistant for Action Marketing Group in Boulder, Colorado. She earned a BA in studio art with a concentration in photography from Clark University.
Patricia Khleif
Most recently, Patricia Khleif worked for BBN Technologies in Cambridge as an annotation manager, overseeing linguists working on computerized translation projects. She has also worked in Washington, DC, as an editorial assistant at the Institute for Palestine Studies, and as an Arabic media analyst and translator for various government agencies. In addition, she taught English to Syrian adults at the American Language Center in Damascus, Syria for two years. She has a BA in comparative literature and Middle East studies from Brown University and an MA in Arab studies from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
Katy Laguzza
Katy Laguzza previously worked in library conservation at the University of Connecticut Libraries. She earned a BA in puppetry and human rights from the University of Connecticut.
Debora Mayer
For the past 15 years, Debora Mayer has been the principal of an independent paper studio servicing cultural institutions and private collectors throughout New England, including the Weissman Preservation Center. She has expertise in material identification with special emphasis of fiber identification. She is a fellow of the American Institute for Conservation and has served in the Book and Paper Group, the Photographic Materials Group, and on the Education and Training Committee. She holds a BFA from the University of Massachusetts—Amherst, and an MS in conservation from Winterthur Museum—University of Delaware.
Stephanie Miles
Stephanie Miles comes to HCL from the Harvard Law School Library, where she worked as a cataloging assistant. She holds a BA in women’s studies from San Francisco State University and an MSLIS from Simmons.
Mary O’Connell Murphy
Mary Murphy comes to Radcliffe from the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA), where she formally established its archive after serving an internship there. A graduate of Beloit College, majoring in history with specialization in US women’s history, she also has an MFA in historic preservation from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her work as a reference library and archives assistant in the Georgia Historical Society (2003–2005) led her to Simmons, where she obtained her MSLIS in archival management. In addition to her BRA internship, she worked on a series of the Gloria Emerson Collection at the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center (Boston University).
Laura Peimer
Laura Peimer has managed the archives at Harvard Business School’s Baker Library since 2006. Previously she was archivist and manager of the Special Library Collections in the Brooklyn Museum (2005–2006); Mellon Project archivist at the Brooklyn Museum (2000–2005); photo archivist at the American Jewish Historical Society (1998–2000, in Waltham and New York City); and archivist with the Winthrop Group (1996–1998), with numerous clients, including the Paul Taylor Dance Company, United Nations, and Hadassah. She graduated from Brandeis with a BA in history, and has her MA in history and certificate in archival management and historical editing from NYU.
Peter Reuell
A veteran journalist, Peter Reuell comes to HCL from the MetroWest Daily News, where he most recently worked as the general assignment reporter. He holds a BA in English and journalism from the University of New Hampshire.
Stephen Salomone
Previously, Stephen Salomone worked as a student assistant in the Fine Arts Library for the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture. He received a BS in Middle East area studies from the United States Military Academy and an MTS in Islamic studies from the Harvard Divinity School.
Vijay Shah
Vijay Shah has been working since 2006 as a searching assistant at the Harvard Law School Library, and he has also been a reference assistant at Hirsh Health Sciences Library at Tufts and at the Healey Library of the University of Massachusetts—Boston. Prior to his library work he held jobs at Beacon Press, South End Press, and Houghton Mifflin. He has a BA in history from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, an MA in social sciences from the University of Chicago, and an MSLIS from Simmons.
Mark Shelton
Mark Shelton comes to Gutman Library from Brown University, where he served as scholarly resources librarian and director of media services. At Brown, he also served as a physical sciences reference and collection development librarian. Prior to his years at Brown, he worked at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln in both library and computer sciences. With a Cornell colleague, he recently co-authored the ARL Spec Kit on “Managing Public Computing.” He has an EdD from Johnson and Wales University; an MLS from the University of Missouri—Columbia, where he was a National Library of Medicine pre-doctoral research fellow; and a BS in applied mathematics from Lyon College in Arkansas.
Kalmia Strong
Previously, Kalmia Strong worked as a MATCH Corps tutor at MATCH Charter Public High School, and as a team leader for the Eighth Grade Academy at Citizens Schools Boston. She holds a BA in the history and future of the book and print culture from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
Laura Totten
Previously, Laura Totten worked as an executive assistant to the Chief Operating Officer of QAS Ltd. She has a BS in communications media from Fitchburg State College.
Elizabeth Walters
Elizabeth Walters has held library positions and internships at Simmons (research assistant to the GSLIS dean, reference assistant, book repair technician), at the Boston Public Library (Rare Books and Manuscripts Department), and in the Weissman Center. She spent more than 15 years working in Tokyo as a consumer electronics analyst and financial publications specialist, and she has extensive experience as a Japanese/English translator. She has a BA from Oberlin College in East Asian studies, and expects to receive an MSLIS from Simmons, with a concentration in preservation management, in December.
Ryan Wheeler
Ryan Wheeler has been with the Schlesinger since late 2005 as a part-time worker in Collection Services. He has provided all-around support in the Books Division, and has at the same time continued work on the Google Barcoding Project at the Harvard College Library. He holds a BA from Bard College with concentrations in literature and writing, and an MSLIS from Simmons.
Rachel Wise
Rachel Wise joined Baker Library Historical Collections in January 2006 as the special collections processor. Her focus in the past two years has been the HBS Archives Collection, working extensively with the faculty papers collections. She has also been a key member of the Institutional Memory project team—identifying and researching pieces to include, and creating metadata with a particular focus on photographic, video, and film holdings.
Bridgette Woodall
Bridgette Woodall comes to the Schlesinger from the Archives of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, where she began in 2004 with a Simmons internship. She then served as project archivist for reconfiguration (2005–2006), working with the more than 80 parishes that were being closed, and since 2006 has been associate archivist. She has also worked in Emory University’s Woodruff Library (Special Collections) and the college archives of her alma mater, Adrian College (BA, international studies and German). She has a master of divinity degree from the Candler School of Theology (Emory University), and her MSLIS with a specialization in archives administration/management from Simmons.
